It's hw dependency. Nothing to do via sw to add this functionality.

If you remember how the rear connections of the HU are, you'll see only one input antenna connection and one adapter in the box to convert the two connection antenna cable to one.

The two connections are for FM diversity, the original headunit will pick the strongest signal between the two antennas.

AF works differently, the radio station provides a list of other frequencies via RDS. The headunit can then retune as you move away from one transmitter towards another. This does not require two antennas and 1000's of headunits use it with just one antenna.

From what I understand, China doesn't use AF which is why it's not included in the firmware. Given there is partial RDS support, the hw might support also AF.

This firmware NOT something you build. And it will ruin this community.

I really hope this is not the case.

This firmware  almost we build sir .. all firmware re codding and fixed bugs and remove not used folders to make it more faster and more stabil. We work on firmware almost 5 weeks for coding again. Also we brick many motherboards for get stabile and secure update firmware for you guys..
If you like to free then we have many firmware free on forum like skoda y802 c180 , we dont tocuh y802 firmware thats why  its free . So you can download it.

I've updated to 5606 w/o any problem, let's see how stable it is) here is my short review:

So, in comparison with 5314 version i had before, there are few points I could share:
1)  regarding sound quality - I don't really understand yet)
2) it works fine after Google assistant usage - sound's volume came back as it was before assistant replied to you
3) IMHO, the interface is better in red version) in green one there are some icons and buttons that looks like it was stolen from Windows 98. The VW's version looks much more better, finished and homogeneous I would say :-)
4) the ones, who were asking about other languages support - just install it right after fw 5314 for example. after reboot you will get the language you previously had (the one which firmware for VW supports). but it will not be available in language choose dialogue.  
also, please keep in mind that if you will do factory reset or go to language menu and choose another one - you'll loose it (there are only two available by default: English & Chinese).

I think the only change from Y802 to 5606 is the BT firmware...

At least based on a diff of these two firmware files:
- std_plus_pss-6.5inch_161108-6.5.5.1_SKODA_PQ_CR240.tar
- std_plus_pss-6.5inch_166108-7.1.1.2_SKODA_PQ.tar

5406 have only options voice command , music , siri , maps , phone adjust volume different way. Not on skoda rightnow.  Maybe future ..
