Hello guys, thanks for all your information about the RCD330, after reading some post I decided to give it a try to gain functions on my Polo 6R.
However, I've noticed a serious decrease in sound quality, so I've performed some tests with an RTA App on my phone, which is not the most precise tool, but still shows where are the main differences between my old headunit (Kenwood X502) and the RCD330.
This was tested with the same speakers in the same car, phone positioned at the same height. My Polo has a set of Morel Maximo Components in the front and Kicker coaxials in the rear, no amp or sub.
As you can see in the pictures, the RCD330 makes an emphasis in midbass (258hz) and midhighs (7.8khz) , rolling down to almost killing all highs near and above 14khz and bass below 70hz, I think it does this to protect factory speakers that are unable to handle both extremes of the spectrum, however the result is an almost "old radio" sound with boomy bass withouth the nice kick lower frequencies have, much like a cheap bluetooth speaker. Old Kenwood HU gives a punchier kick in the bass at 86Hz, and manages to keep all high frecuencies. Trying to EQ the RCD330 does not help as much.
Do you guys know if there's a way to make the RCD330 give a flatter or punchier profile without the cuts at extreme frequencies? I thought on connecting an aftermarket amp, but it will only increase what the radio is giving the speakers currently. I've read that the RCD330 can be configured to give a line-out low level signal to factory amps, has anybody connected that to an aftermarket amp?
Thanks so much in advance
