Golf MK5 2008 battery drain issue after installing RCD330 Plus - senui - 29-05-2020 Hello everyone, I recently bought an RCD330 Plus (330G 6RF 035 187E) off of aliexpress (Lemon Shark) for my VW with the following specs: - VW Golf MK5 (2008) - 1K0 907 530Q canbus gateway (S0202) I expected not to have the battery drain issue as cars with a canbus with a revision above L should suffice, according to this manual: [To see links please register here] Unfortunately, after two days of not using the car, the battery was drained completely ![]() Does anyone have an idea on why the battery is draining even though the canbus is the right revision? RE: Golf MK5 2008 battery drain issue after installing RCD330 Plus - senui - 01-06-2020 Would the steering wheel adapter as posted by the OP in this thread solve the issue? Just to confirm, you also used it for the RCD330 Plus 187E? The description only mentions it being compatible with 187A and 187B. The seller didn't really answer this when I asked him. His reply was: Quote:This adapter is mainly used to solve the problem of protocol and leakage for the 8-button . ‘ RE: Golf MK5 2008 battery drain issue after installing RCD330 Plus - VWR - 02-06-2020 You can use it for 187A-B-C-D-E-F No problem. It will solve battery drain issue also. RE: Golf MK5 2008 battery drain issue after installing RCD330 Plus - senui - 21-09-2020 Hey so after a long wait for the adapter to arrive, I regret to say that it did not solve the battery drain issue. I now checked the radio fuse (in the fuse box under the hood) for the consumption of the radio with a multimeter. With the old radio: - Ignition off: 0.0A - Ignition on (radio on): 0.3A With the new RCD330+: - Ignition off: 0.4 - 0.5A - Ignition on (or radio on): 0.8A So unfortunately the adaptor does not turn off the RCD330+ when the ignition is off... Any more ideas? RE: Golf MK5 2008 battery drain issue after installing RCD330 Plus - senui - 23-09-2020 Does anyone have a pin layout of the RCD330? I found this layout. I tried connecting the ACC cable I had lying around from my old radio into the ACC pin as shown in the diagram below, but it seemed to have no effect on the battery consumption. I was wondering if this is even the right pin layout.
